SUMMARY:The Eighth AAAI Conference on Human Computation and Crowdsourcing (HCOMP 2020)
DESCRIPTION:The 8th AAAI Conference on Human Computation and Crowdsourcing (HCOMP 2020) will be held October 26–28th at The Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision in Hilversum\, The Netherlands (may be converted to virtual format). \nHCOMP is the home of the human computation and crowdsourcing community. It’s the premier venue for presenting latest findings from research and practice into frameworks\, methods and systems that bring together people and machine intelligence to achieve better results. \nWhile artificial intelligence (AI) and human-computer interaction (HCI) represent traditional mainstays of the conference\, HCOMP believes strongly in fostering and promoting broad\, interdisciplinary research. Our field is particularly unique in the diversity of disciplines it draws upon and contributes to\, including human-centered qualitative studies and HCI design\, social computing\, artificial intelligence\, economics\, computational social science\, digital humanities\, policy\, and ethics. We promote the exchange of advances in human computation and crowdsourcing not only among researchers\, but also engineers and practitioners\, to encourage dialogue across disciplines and communities of practice. \nThis year\, we especially invite works that will generate new insights into the quality (or qualities) of human-annotated datasets\, including elements such as reliability and replicability of human computation and crowdsourcing experiments\, novel metrics for aggregation of results\, and holistic approaches to deal with bias\, fairness and interpretability. \nHCOMP 2020 builds on a successful history of past meetings: seven HCOMP conferences (2013–2019) and four earlier workshops\, held at the AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence (2011–2012)\, and the ACM SIGKDD Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining (2009–2010). \n

SUMMARY:The Sixteenth AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Interactive Digital Entertainment (AIIDE-20)
DESCRIPTION:The 16th AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Interactive Digital Entertainment (AIIDE-20) will be held virtually October 19-23. Sponsored by the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI)\, AIIDE brings together researchers and practitioners who work in AI for entertainment\, including game designers\, creative technologists\, media artists\, and academic and industrial AI researchers. This year\, AIIDE especially encourages submissions to respond to the theme of “Foundations for Shared Progress”.

SUMMARY:The Seventeenth Conference on Principles of Knowledge Representation and Reasoning
DESCRIPTION:the 17th International Conference on Principles of Knowledge Representation and Reasoning to be held in Rhodes\, Greece on September 12-18\, 2020. \nKnowledge Representation and Reasoning (KR) is a well-established and lively field of research. In KR a fundamental assumption is that an agent’s knowledge is explicitly represented in a declarative form\, suitable for processing by dedicated reasoning engines. This assumption\, that much of what an agent deals with is knowledge-based\, is common in many modern intelligent systems. Consequently\, KR has contributed to the theory and practice of various areas in AI\, including automated planning and natural language understanding\, and to fields beyond AI\, including databases\, verification\, software engineering\, and robotics. In recent years\, KR has contributed also to new and emerging fields\, including the semantic web\, computational biology\, cyber security\, and the development of software agents. \nThe KR conference series is the leading forum for timely in-depth presentation of progress in the theory and principles underlying the representation and computational management of knowledge.

SUMMARY:The Fourteenth International AAAI Conference on Web and Social Media
DESCRIPTION:ICWSM-20 will be held virtually June 8-11\, 2020.\n\n\nThe International AAAI Conference on Web and Social Media (ICWSM) is a forum for researchers from multiple disciplines to come together to share knowledge\, discuss ideas\, exchange information\, and learn about cutting-edge research in diverse fields with the common theme of online social media. This overall theme includes research in new perspectives in social theories\, as well as computational algorithms for analyzing social media. ICWSM is a singularly fitting venue for research that blends social science and computational approaches to answer important and challenging questions about human social behavior through social media while advancing computational tools for vast and unstructured data. \nICWSM\, now in its fourteenth year\, has become one of the premier venues for computational social science\, and previous years of ICWSM have featured papers\, posters\, and demos that draw upon network science\, machine learning\, computational linguistics\, sociology\, communication\, and political science. The uniqueness of the venue and the quality of submissions have contributed to a fast growth of the conference\, and a competitive acceptance rate around 20% for full-length research papers published in the proceedings by the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI). \nFor ICWSM-2020\, in addition to the usual program of contributed talks\, posters and demos\, the main conference will include a selection of keynote talks from prominent scientists and technologists. Building on successes in previous years\, ICWSM-2020 will also hold a day of workshops and tutorials in addition to the main conference.
